WOOLY CLUBHOUSE - J. HENRY WINGS

I've posted about Wooly Bully before but now it is under a new owner and it's called Wooly Clubhouse.  With a new owner and one that is established in the community here in Cookeville, Tn comes a new tasty menu!  Here comes Tuesday and everything is half off. Even drinks :-)

We decided to try the J. HENRY WINGS this time.  The wings are deep dried and larger than your normal wings. They have this Sweet heat sauce to them. Dang it's a Good sauce and the wings are tender.

Thursday is $0.35 boneless wing day.  I'll be posting about them soon cause they are the best boneless wings i've had!

Homemade wings...

Dad made up some wings last night. I'm all in for some homemade wings. Most don't know this but I can't stand to eat deep dried wings. I just don't care for the skin crunch. I rather have my wings baked. Skeptical how these would be. I was surprised how good they were. He did marinade them for a few hours. And he did bake them. They both started out the same. One has panko bread crums on outside which i liked the crunch. He would not give me the recipe but they are not buffalo sauces. However once I know what the recipe is. I will post it!

Slick Pig - Wings/Naked - 10 STARS!

Been a while since i have blogged about any new wing places in TN. Stopped at Slick Pig in Murfreesboro, TN and all i can say is "DAM!" They are really really good. The smoked naked wings are awesome, they have such a great flavor through out the wing. I think i have found heaven in a wing! I would recommend them to anyone, anytime and get double the order!

Pizza Hut Wingstreet - Mild Buffalo

Tonight when i was ordering pizza for me and my little girls i had to try the wings as well. I ordered 8 of the Mild Buffalo which was $6.00. The sauce is thick and sticky which makes it finger licken (messy). They were small but meaty. Not worth the money in my opinion but what is worth the money is they are quick to get. I will have to try the Medium and Hot Buffalo. They also have some other sauces you can order that are listed on their website (http://www.pizzahut.com) or at the stores.

WoW Cafe & Wingery

Last night we ended up at WoW Cafe & Wingery http://www.wowcafe.com/, excited to check it out we were seated to our high top. We ordered fried pickles, wings, beer, salad & onion rings - how did that salad get in there?

It was boneless wing day ($0.65/ea) so i ordered 4 of them Australian Style (Sweet & Sour Raspberry) and let me tell ya this was my favorite sauce all night. The boneless wings were good and tender just wish they were bigger for 65 cents each.

Boneless Wings with Australian Sauce

I also had 6 wings with the Buffalo 1 sauce. I also tried the Buffalo 13 sauce. First of all the wings were lightly deep fried but didnt have alot of flavor on their own. There was not a whole lot of meat on the bones and they were not that tender. Second of all the Buffalo sauce (1, 2 or 13) had its own unique flavor and should not been called Buffalo sauce. These sauces did not resemble Buffalo sauce to me, my dad or friends. Third of all the Buffalo 1 had a slight heat to it that made your lips tingle. I liked that part. The Buffalo 13 kicked my ass Day 1 and 2. It was Cayenne based so it burned for a while. I only ate 1 Buffalo 13 wing and it was enough. My buddy Jeff ate 4 of them and gave 2 away. He was hating it after the 4 and the next day for sure.

Wings with Buffalo 1 Sauce

My dad had 3 different sauces on his wings, Australian, Peanut Thai and Buffalo 1. He didn't like any of them except Australian sauce.

Again this is only a review on the the wings and only my opinion. You can use it as a guide and make up your own opinion and would love to hear the comments as well. I will go back because the menu looked great with other items. I just won't go back for wings. The service was great and the cafe and decor was great.

Favorite Hangout - Wooly Bully's of Cookeville

Its been awhile since i have had any new wings anywhere lately but i have been frequent at a local spot that i have grown to really like, Wooly Bully's in Cookeville. All the food here is great!  I would like to let everyone know that they also have wing special all day till 7pm ($0.35) for each with no min, everyday. This comes with dressing and celery also. I can get out of there with 12 wings for $4.20! Can't beat that :) Great place to hang out with friends and make friends also. The place is usually vacant as far as tables go during the day, but the bar is central in the place and is usually packed so if your single then bar seat is the best. Night time it gets packed and they have live bands on the weekends.

Off Wing Topic: On Tuesday's starting at 3pm they have their Steak & Potato special (15oz Sirloin, Texas Toast and a HUGE loaded baked potato) for $9.95! My dad is no steak eater but he was very impressed with their steak. It was good and tender of course i always get mine medium rare especially on thin cuts. I still think my steaks i personally make are the best but i like to hang out with friends and family. Tuesday nights ill usually be at Wooly Bully's, come on out and say Hi! PS: Get there fairly early or you wont get a place to seat on Tuesday.

Char - Cookeville - Medium/Hot/Ranch

Char of Cookeville is a nice little hang out with a contemporary ambiance. Check em out at www.CharCookeville.com. We went to see a friends band play and ended up getting there a bit early so we ordered the wings. They server their wings by the pound which equals about 8 - 10 to a pound. The wings come with a large drum but a small wing. They are pre-smoked then refrigerated. When ordered they bring them out of the fridge and grill them, which gives them a snap when you bite into them. They are very limited on sauces. The hot lacked heat and the medium or mild didn't have much heat at all. One thing that i didn't like was that the sauce didn't seem like it was part of the wing. I would of rather had them grill them in their sauce then sauce them again to serve. If i were to order them again i would request this or have them bring a side of the sauce as well.
